Greyhound Walks Fun Greyhound & Lurcher Show
25 April 2010 ... a few words from our Show Director, Dave Peacock

Greyhound Walks Show 2010 ... “The best show yet! “ - If I’d said that I’d have been accused of being biased. Fortunately I didn’t say those words, one of the many who joined us at Pear Tree cottage uttered those words. I would tend to agree though... and that is me being biased.

The early rain failed to put a damper on the day, and the clouds very quickly cleared to let the sun shine as Janet, our Chairman, took to the microphone to make the opening speech. The time was over for preening, snipping, cleaning and clipping - the judging began. A coveted rosette waits for the lucky ones, and a slow walk out of the ring for those who weren’t so lucky (I know that feeling all too well!).

Congratulations to Samantha Slater with Apollo who won Best dog in show, and Sheena Clarke with Lilly who won Best Bitch in Show. S Kulikowski with their dog Gyp picked up 1st place for Best Lurcher in Show.

It takes around 50 people to produce and deliver the Greyhound Walks Show. Huge thanks must go to Gary & Kathie Honeywood for once again inviting us to use their house and garden for the event. To the Greyhound Walks Show Committee who worked so hard through the 6 months or so of planning, and to the volunteers who once again worked so hard throughout the day. And of course to everyone one who donated so much for this wonderful cause.

The show made an astonishing £2950 and this will go towards helping rehoming kennels with their projects throughout Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.

It gets better. We were joined by 5 rehoming kennels, who between them raised in excess of £1000 for their own causes. Not bad for a days work !!

And as for The Greyhound Walks Show 2011 ? Well, I know the date and location. I also know that what you’ve seen over the past 3 years is nothing to what you can expect to see next year. Keep an eye on our Forum for further announcements.
