Greyhound Walks Show 2009 - Sunday 26th April

We had the most fantastic show!
A great time had by all and over £4000 raised!

The sun shone, the greyhounds and their owners just kept arriving and by the time the judging started there were a stunning 192 dogs entered into the classes. A hard job for our judges, just how can you choose a winner from so many lovely hounds?

Greyhound classes kicked off the day, judged by Darren Barker and Marion Hipkin, able assisted by stewards Linda Luckin and Maureen Nightingale.

A break at half time saw the Greyhound Walks Display Team put on a great performance, which went so well they even surprised themselves! Chelsea, Greyhound Walks founder made a special appearance and true to form, did just as she pleased.

Many a heart was melted by the parade of hounds waiting for homes and at least one was lucky enough to find one from coming along to the show.

Finally, a bit of a show stopper, a demonstration of agility by three of the Display Team members, with a ‘have a go’ session at the end. As you can see from the photo, some dogs need a bit of persuading to get through the tunnel.

The second half of the day was the fun classes, who did have the waggiest tail, who was the best junior handler, and which dog did the judge want to take home. All the results are here

Our Best in Show winners were
Best Greyhound Dog - 3.5yr old George
Best Greyhound Bitch - 10yr old Katie
Congratulations to them both!

Our stalls all did brisk business, many happy people taking home bottles, cakes, fabulous raffle prizes and lots of dog goodies. Our thanks go to all our sponsors and those who donated goods and gifts, and also to the trade stalls who came along and made donations to our day, and not forgetting the rehoming kennels who came to enjoy the day with us.

No one had dared look at the weather forecast in the week before the show, and the group wonderful volunteers who put the show together were determined that come what may it was going to be an unforgettable show … it most certainly was!
