Melody
15 October 2003 - 30 March 2011
2006 - I wanted a Border Terrier. This little fawn bitch at Clarks Farm wanted a home. “This one’s perfect for you” they said “and she’s fine with cats”. The Universe was on her side! She’d conned the experts at greyhound rescue and got herself a forever home.
Mel’s high prey drive remained high – to the last. If it was small and furry it was game on and she revelled in the chase.
Dana (Dower Dana)
June 2001 - May 2010
Over the years my dogs had always come from rescue centres so when I lost my last Dobermann, it was no surprise that I found myself at Clarks Farm just down the road. So many dogs looking for homes.
Dana was chosen for her relaxed way with people and other dogs. She soon settled into going to work with me in the Landrover, going on group holidays, in another Landrover, and eventually going to Greyhound Walks.......in a Landrover.
"ASBO" Emma (Isle Lass)
5th April 1997-23rd May 2009
Emma came to me way back in 1997 when I had lost yet another greyhound to cancer and I had a massive hole to be filled. I heard an old man had two dogs living in a flat and he wasnt coping so off I went and found two of the saddest looking hounds staring at me in a tiny cramped room, well I only wanted one but had to take both..
Maya (Bygone Days)
6th March 2003 - 18th September 2007
Beautiful Brindle girl Maya was our first greyhound. We adopted her from Clarks Farm on 26th May 2007. She showed us how gentle and loving greyhounds are, and was a delight to own.
We went to our first Greyhound Walk together at Admirals Park, Chelmsford on 24th June 2007, and went to many more walks and shows from there on in.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.
