What we can offer?

Since we first started to collect money at our walks we have made donations and given grants to local kennels who rehome greyhounds. In February 2009 we applied for and were given charity status and now most of our 'giving' is made through grants.

This little chap was taken to a vets to be put to sleep because he'd been found abandoned with a deformed leg.
One of our walkers worked at the vets called Southern Lurcher Rescue and asked them to help ... the rest is history.
Greyhound Walks made a donation towards the vet bill for the leg amputation.

Our grants are available at any time to any kennel in Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire or Norfolk that rehomes greyhounds. We do not provide grants for day to day running costs but can help with projects including

• Special publicity campaigns to highlight harder to home dogs.
• Anything to make the dogs lives more comfortable in kennels.
• Help with the cost of any special diets required for recovering dogs, neglected or elderly dogs.
• Dogs which have no funding arrangement, including extraordinary vet bills.
• Preventative treatment for older (over 7 years) or long term dogs (dentals etc.)
• Improvements to kennel facilities, e.g. covering for runs, raised bowl stands, lower beds for elderly dogs

The maximum donation we can make for any project is £500 and we would expect the recipient to also make a contribution either monetary or volunteer hours.

From time to time extraordinary circumstances arise and we will make special one off donations to needy kennels and greyhound and lurcher organisations in our counties.
